Michelle S. Stein, Esq. is a founding partner of SHSS, with approximately sixteen years of legal experience in various areas of litigation, including matrimonial law, family law, commercial litigation, civil litigation, Surrogate’s Court, trust and estate litigation and appellate level practice. Ms. Stein is a member of the American Inn of Court, Matrimonial Division, where she has lectured on matters of matrimonial law and family law in approved CLE courses. She is also a member of the Nassau County Women’s Bar Association. Further, Ms. Stein is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious honor society.
Ms. Stein is a zealous and compassionate advocate for her clients, representing clients in matrimonial law, family law, trust and estate litigation, civil litigation, commercial litigation and appellate advocacy matters. Ms. Stein passionately serves her clients, both in connection with the procurement of favorable settlement agreements, as well as at trial.
However, Ms. Stein’s passion truly lies in the area of written legal advocacy. Ms. Stein is well-regarded amongst the legal community as a prolific legal writer. Her written advocacy skills have yielded her clients successful outcomes before the trial and appellate courts of the State of New York, as reflected by the myriad of reported decisions found here.
Turning to her background, Ms. Stein is a 2005 graduate of Hofstra University School of Law. Following graduation, Ms. Stein commenced her practice of law at the Suffolk County Legal Aid Society, where she served as an Attorney for Children. During her tenure at the Legal Aid Society, Ms. Stein represented children in various matters, including custody and visitation, abuse and neglect, PINS, and juvenile delinquency.
In 2011, Ms. Stein entered private practice as an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Leonard R. Sperber, where she honed her trial advocacy and writing skills. Thereafter, in January of 2018, Ms. Stein and SHSS co-founding partner Leonard R, Sperber, Esq. formed the law firm Sperber & Stein, LLP. Sperber & Stein, LLP adeptly assisted its’ clients in connection with a range of litigated and transactional matters, including matrimonial law, family law, civil litigation, commercial litigation, estate planning, Surrogate’s Court litigation and residential and commercial real estate matters.
In September 2022, Sperber & Stein, LLP joined forces with Warren Hoffman, Esq. and Andrea K. Scampoli, Esq. to form SHSS. Ms. Stein looks forward to continuing to serve the community as a co-founding partner and attorney with SHSS.
Ms. Stein is also an active member of her local community. She is a member of the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Central School District Parent-Teacher Association and the Bay Service Unit of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County.
In addition to serving the community, Ms. Stein enjoys spending time with her husband and two young daughters.
