Leonard R. Sperber

Leonard R. Sperber, Esq. is a managing partner of SHSS, with almost thirty-five (35) years of experience in various areas of litigation and transactional legal matters.  Mr. Sperber is an active member of the Nassau County, New York matrimonial law legal community.  Mr. Sperber serves as a Master of the prestigious American Inn of Court, Matrimonial Division, where he lectured in approved CLE courses in the areas of matrimonial law and ethics.  Mr. Sperber also serves as a member of the Nassau County Bar Association Grievance Committee, where he aids in ensuring the continued integrity of the legal community.  Further, he has appeared on television and in various publications in connection with matters of legal importance.  He has also been interviewed by premier legal publications, including, but not limited to the New York Law Journal.

Over the span of his legal career, Mr. Sperber has proven himself a force at trial, successfully litigating a myriad of jury and non-jury trials and hearing to decision or verdict.  Mr. Sperber’s attention to detail and zealous representation has resulted in favorable outcomes for his clients at all intervals of litigation.  Aside from his skilled oral advocacy, Mr. Sperber is a prolific writer, drafting and arguing successful motions at all stages of litigation.

Further, Mr. Sperber also boasts significant experience in appellate level advocacy.  His grasp of the relevant caselaw and statutory authority has yielded his clientele favorable appellate level outcomes, as evidenced here (insert hyperlink to reported decisions).

By way of background, Mr. Sperber is a graduate of Hofstra University School of Law in 1988, where he served for two years on Law Review, Following graduation, he commenced the practice of law as an associate attorney with the firm Rivkin, Radler, Dunne & Buyh (now Rivkin, Radler).  Thereafter, eager to gain trial experience, he accepted a position with Legal Aid Society of Nassau County, where he was promoted to the felony division.

Following his tenure at Legal Aid, Mr. Sperber re-entered the private sector as an associate attorney with the firm Bloom & Hollander.  Given Mr. Sperber’s trial prowess and knowledge of the law, Mr. Sperber was made partner of the firm, which was later renamed Bloom & Sperber.

In 1995, in an effort to better serve the community, Mr. Sperber formed the firm Law Offices of Leonard R. Sperber.  His solo law practice focused on various areas of litigation, including, but not limited to matrimonial law, family law, civil litigation, commercial litigation and appellate litigation, as well as transactional matters, such as residential and commercial real estate.

In January of 2018, Mr. Sperber and co-founding SHSS partner Michelle S. Stein, Esq., formed the law firm Sperber & Stein, LLP.  Sperber & Stein, LLP proudly assisted its’ clients in connection with a range of litigated and transactional matters, including matrimonial law, family law, civil litigation, commercial litigation, estate planning, Surrogate’s Court litigation and residential and commercial real estate matters.

In September 2022, Sperber & Stein, LLP joined forces with Warren Hoffman, Esq. and Andrea K. Scampoli, Esq. to form SHSS.  Mr. Sperber looks forward to continuing to serve the legal community as managing partner and co-founder of SHSS.

In addition to serving the community, Mr. Sperber enjoys spending time with his wife, children and toddler granddaughter.
